Mom’s Calling – New Burger Bar at Baker’s Corner

Mom’s Calling – New Burger Bar at Baker’s Corner

Mom’s Burger Bar –  Brothers Eoin and Hugh O’Reilly have long been known as Dublin’s king egg slingers, with their much loved brekkie bar, Mad Yolks. They have popped up in bars like The Barber’s, The Forth Corner and the pandemic even seen them find a home in Eagle House, Glasthule.

Mad Yolks is on the move again with exciting news hopefully not too far away, but the egg brothers have been working hard to convert their breakfast bap skillage, into something a bit thicker between the buns.

Mom’s Burger Bar is the new Glasthule burger joint that is starting to pop-up on our feeds more and more. Located in the popular Baker’s Corner Bar, diners can wet their whistle while chowing down on a Buffalo Chicken Sando.

The menu includes Classic Burgers, Fried Chicken Sandos, Buffalo Tenders and even Mom’s chilli recipe features on the Chilli Cheese Fries, which are excellent btw.

We smashed some of the crispy coated tendies (with a selection of dips) and loved not only the juicy chicken, but the sheer size of these is class. Chicken tenders done right!

The burgers are big, juicy and worth a visit to Deansgrange. The signature Mom’s burger is quite the spectacle with generous amounts of caramelized onion and smoked streaky bacon on top.

“Moms is all about classic American diner food. The kinda stuff Guy Fieri dreams about. We wanted to focus on the classics; burgers, fried chicken, no frills – but done to a seriously high standard” says owner Eoin.

People of Dún Laoghaire, Blackrock, Stillorgan, Sandyford, Cabinteely and Dalkey can all try Mom’s at home through Just Eat. Or if you’re in the mood for a burger and a beer, drop by Baker’s Corner Mon – Fri 4-9pm & Sat -Sun 1-9pm.

Get A Drip. IV Drip Therapy Launches in Dublin

Get A Drip. IV Drip Therapy Launches in Dublin

Get A Drip provides Vitamin Drips and Booster shots to help improve your health and wellness.

The UK franchise – with multiple locations in London – has recently launched its first Irish clinic in Junction 6, Dublin 15. IV vitamin drips have been very popular outside of Ireland for many years, celebrities often plugging them as the best cure for a hangover, but what really is Get A Drip about? Dublin Social paid a visit to investigate.

Junction 6 is located at the old Total Fitness at the junction of the N3 and the M50. The former gym has been transformed into a fitness village with a number of smaller fitness businesses like Metcon 6 and Ger Conroy Fitness, as well as Recovery Room (sport recovery service), Matei’s Salt Cave and even a massive drive-thru/click & collect Bujo Burger.

Just inside the front door of the main building, is Get A Drip. 3 leather reclining chairs are divided by wooden screens with the drip holder hanging from above on a neat pulley system. Drips are administered by a nurse – the super friendly and lovely Lynn – and after filling in some forms, we chat with Lynn about our lifestyle and goals for our visit.

Get A Drip offers a large range of IVs plus different add ons. After our consultation, it is decided we will go for the MultiVit Drip (Basic hydration + MultiVit) €100, Vitamin B12 Energy Shot (Methylcobalamin 5mg) €45 and the strongest available Detox (Glutathione 2.4mg) €150.

Before the treatment begins, the nurse will send plans plus your medical history for approval from a doctor off-site and then it is time to sit back and relax. There is very little sensation during the process but I could definitely feel the detox working later that evening. Glutathione works as an antioxidant and I am informed I might feel a little off upon leaving as the detox works its magic.

The B12 is what many people swear by and after the initial nausea from the detox, I certainly feel a spring in my step. Time will tell if I see the other benefits but I have heard many friends saying it works wonders for dealing with their daily fatigue. Other treatments available include DNA testing to identify your micronutrient requirements, Skin Health courses, Anti-Ageing and the interestingly titled, Party Pack. One thing is for sure, Dublin Social will definitely be back to explore some of the other options on the menu soon.

Allta Launch Summer House, A Convivial Dining Experience At Slane Castle

Allta Launch Summer House, A Convivial Dining Experience At Slane Castle

Allta have finally let the cat out of the bag! After weeks of planning and rumours galore , Allta Summer House has at long last been announced for Slane Castle.

An announcement for Slane usually follows with the name of one of the planets biggest rock gods but fear not, this reveal is far more exciting. Dublin Social has raved about Allta since its opening in 2019, with brilliant chefs including Hugh Higgins, Kevin Burke and Niall Davidson bringing the creative flair. Saturday June 26th will see the launch of Summer House, a convivial dining experience sticking to the Allta tradition of using sustainable Irish ingredients and supporting the most skilled farmers, fishermen and foragers in the country. All of this situated in the picturesque Boat House Field on the banks of the River Boyne.

Niall told Dublin Social, “We have a big staff and not a lot of space for outdoor dining, so the idea was to come up with something great for the summer. I met Alex from Slane Castle a few years ago while working in London and said I would reach out to him with a crazy idea. With no music in the castle this year, that idea grew rapidly and now Summer House will be located in Boat House Field at Slane. Boat House Field is where the hospitality area would be during the Slane Castle gigs, so it’s great to think we are putting on our event where Bowie, Freddie and Jagger have all had their after parties!”

A set menu is priced at €95pp euro and will be cooked over open fire and is made for sharing with bookings only available for groups of 4-6 due to the construction of the tables. Summer House will be located under a large tented structure and guests are encouraged to arrive early or stay late to enjoy drinks at the bar. Expect cocktails and the usual great Allta wine list as well as a full bar. Accommodation is also available with some rooms available in the castle in from a couple of weeks time as well as glamping, at Rock Farm on the Slane Estate. There is also a discounted VIP taxi service.

This past year has seen Allta sell over 10,00 of their at-home kits, The Allta Box, as well as starting a Saturday bakery pop-up that had people queing for over an hour to get their hands on one of their excellent doughnuts.
